Are you a fan of comics? Here in Bucheon, there is a Korea Manhwa Museum. Manhwa refers to comics in Korean. Many of us cherish fun memories of reading comics and imagined ourselves as main protagonists when we were young. This manhwa museum fills visitors with memories of popular comics in the past. Comic shops, shops selling sweet candies, street stalls, and alleys return us to the time when we were young.
Opened in 2001, the museum was relocated to the Bucheon Movie Cultural Complex in Bucheon in November 2009. The name of the museum was Museum Manhwa Gyujanggak when relocated, but its name changed to the current name in May 2011.
Bucheon hosts the annual Bucheon International Comics Festival in collaboration with the museum. It became even more popular when it appeared in the Korean TV show, Running Man. The museum offers diverse programs (exhibitions, education, and events) as an easily accessible cultural space for the public. Working with the Comics Library in Bucheon, the museum also offers space for both parents and their children to read comics. Definitely check out this museum when you are here!
How to get there?Get off at Samsan Gymnasium Station (Seoul Subway Line 7) and Exit 5. Walk for about 3 minutes.
Opening Hours: 10:00~18:00
